Churchill Highlander Rifle Review

The Churchill Highlander is a European-style bolt action rifle that features a free-floated barrel, a butter knife bolt handle and a magazine with a capacity of three or four rounds, depending on the caliber. All rifles are equipped with a rubber recoil stopper at the rear end of the stock.

Most models of the Churchill Highlander rifle do not come with iron sights preinstalled. However, the rifle's action is based on the Mauser system, and the scope mounts are interchangeable with numerous other rifles. This makes it easy to mount a scope or other optics onto the rifle, especially since the distances between the mounting holes on the top of the receiver are shared with several different brands.

The rifle is available in a variety of calibers and has a bolt with two locking lugs, which provide a secure and tight lockup with the action housing when firing. There is a hinged floorplate on the lower part of the forearm and a side safety lever on the right upper side of the receiver that can be easily reached with a thumb.

Imported by Kassnar in the 1980s, the Churchill Highlander rifle was manufactured in Italy by FIAS (Fabrique Italiani Armi Sabatti). In 1989, Kassnar transferred ownership of the Churchill name to Ellet Brothers distributors, who produced firearms under the Churchill branding with the initials "EB" in the serial number.
