I have the same issue. What is happening is the brass metal is being pulled into the plastic top section when the screws are tightened. What should happen is the top plastic section should clamp against the pistol slide, the brass piece should not contact the top plastic piece. So the pistol slide is what the plastic section should clamp against. The plastic top sections opening is not the correct clearance, it needs opening up with a file /

This product will not fit the Vortex Venom red dot sight as they are designed with a footprint that is the same as Docter/Noblex red dot sights. For 1911 handguns we would suggest the mount on the page below which will fit your handgun as the cut is identical.

Unfortunately, we are unable to give you 100% confirmation since we don't have the product currently in stock but we can say that the mounting surface (the V-notch) on the GSG 922 appears to be a bit wider than on the GSG 1911 model. 

Unfortunately, we are unable to give you any more specific information at this moment since we don't have the product in stock.

This mount should fit the replicas of the Colt M1911 handgun.
