Bergara B14 LA

About the Bergara

The Bergara company originates from the Spanish town Bergara. The company is known around the world as one of the finest barrel manufacturers. This acknowledgement goes, to a large extent, to Ed Shilen, a legendary barrel designer from the U.S., who was Chief Instructor for the United States Marine Corps Precision Weapons Section, as he helped Bergara set up a factory that would produce high-quality barrels with low production costs. They produce firearms of different designs and for different fields of use, along with various accessories and outdoor equipment. They quickly found their place on the market thanks to great quality and affordable prices. Altogether, they have more than 50 distributors, which means their products are easily acquirable throughout the world, especially in Europe.

Bergara B14 LA Rifle Review

Bergara B14 LA (long action) is a bolt action rifle, which is based on the famous Remington 700 action. B14 is available in both, short and long action lengths. Bolt is designed with two locking lugs, while the action is of push feed style. Rifle's trigger is basically the same as that of Remington and it has weight and pull adjustments. Barrel length differs depending on the calibre and it can be 51, 56 or 61 cm (20, 22 or 24 in) long.

Which rifles have interchangeable mounts?

First, we are going to list all the rifles, which have all the mounts interchangeable with Bergara B14 LA. A necessary condition for mounts to be interchangeable between rifles is that the mounting surfaces of these rifles match in every dimension. Rifles that have the same mounting surface as Bergara B14 LA are:

  • Remington 700 LA, 721, 725, 40x LA

  • Haenel Jager 10

  • Sauer 100, Sauer 101

  • Mauser M18

  • Bergara Premier series rifles (LA)

The second group of mounts which are interchangeable between rifles are two-piece mounts. Rifles that have interchangeable only two-piece mounts must match in every dimension except the B dimension (see the above image). This is because two-piece mounts can be installed closer or further apart. Rifles that have interchangeable two-piece mounts with Bergara B14 LA are:

  • Bergara B14 SA, Premier series rifles (SA)

  • Remington 700 SA, 722, 40x SA

  • Mauser M94, M1996 (Serial number < 12000)

Our recommendation for mounts

Fixed mounts:

There is not a lot of choice for fixed mounts for this rifle, so we would advise the customers to first install a Picatinny rail on the receiver and then install a fixed mount of choice from the vast supply of fixed mounts for Picatinny rails.

If we would have to, however, recommend one fixed mount for direct installation on Bergara B14 LA, it would be Dinpal two-piece mount. It is designed for Remington 700, but since the Bergara B14 receiver is based on the receiver of Remington 700, the mount will fit perfectly.

Detachable repeatable mounts:

In contrast to the lack of choice of fixed mounts for the rifle, there are plenty of options for detachable repeatable mounts and one of the most appropriate for B14 LA would be the Rusan pivot mount.

Picatinny rails:

Just like with detachable repeatable mounts, there is plenty of choice for Bergara B14 LA rifle if one is looking for a Picatinny rail. One example of Picatinny rail that would fit this rifle well is the Contessa Picatinny rail. The Picatinny rail also matches the rifle receiver in material and that is important if we look at it from the mechanical perspective. More about that in our article Aluminum vs. Steel Picatinny Rails, which you can find here.

Help us build our riflescope mounts database

If you happen to own this or any other rifle, we would appreciate it if you could help us expand our database by sending us some photos of the rifle receiver (the bare mounting surface of the rifle without the mounts installed). For your help, our company offers a fair return in terms of practical rewards.
