Hi there, for the Minox X HD series, they are incorrectly listed as having magnesium as the body material. Minox had replied that it is actually polycarbonate. Dear Sirs, the body of the X-HD Series is made of a strong poly carbonat mixture with increased glassfiber. Dear Ken,

Thank you for your inquiry. We can confirm that it is a mistake on our end and the material in fact is not magnesium. Thank you for notifying us about it.

Kind regards

Hi,

I´m interested in the Minox x-hd 10x44 binoculars. What can be said about their mechanical and optical quality? It has a large field of view but how is it figured and corrected? How does the chromatic aberration, sharpness, contrast, brightness and field flatness compare to competitors? Which distortions are suppressed and which are evident?

I have yet to find any reviews of these binoculars and wonder in what category of performance they belong. Are they comparable to Zeiss conquest´s and SW-SLC´s but without the luxury and brand reputation? I´m looking for an affordable non-flashy quality portable bino for nature/birding/astronomy but I need some clarity and more information before I make the purchase, hope you can provide some assistance.

Best regards

Dear Sir,

thank you for contacting us.

The mechanical quality of these binoculars is superb. The eyecups have 4  positions and are nicely firm when adjusting. The same goes for the diopter adjustment that is nice and firm. What we especially like about this binocular in terms of design is an open bridge that is extremely ergonomic. The quality of the build is also very good as it is made in Germany.

The optical quality is extremely good and can be compared to binoculars in the price range of 1000€. We would especially commend the wide field of view and optical sharpness in the center and edges.

There are also some downsides to this binocular. When observing the image you can quickly spot yellowish image - chromatic aberration and slight internal reflections.

Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind Regards,
