Fujinon Stabiscope S 16x40 Product description

The massive 16x power provides you with more reach and gets you closer to the action than ever before. With standard non-stabilised binoculars you would almost certainly have to use a tripod to keep the image steady enough to appreciate the increased image detail that this high magnification provides. However, with Fujinon’s Gyro-stabilization technology you will be able to comfortably use these using only your right or left hand.
The high power delivers more image detail, however, on the downside, your field of view is reduced. At 59.4m wide when measured at a distance 1000 meters away the view on these is not the widest and thus these binoculars are best used in wide open spaces and over longer distances.
Whilst these binoculars use a high level of coatings and optical glass, the relatively small objective lenses combined with the very high magnifications means that they produce a relatively small 2.5mm exit pupil. This denotes that only a small shaft of light exits the binocular, which in turn points to the fact that this binocular is not optimized for use in very low light situations when the pupils of your eyes are larger than the exit pupil size. Thus for best results, they are ideally used during the day in reasonably good light conditions.
At 12mm, the eye relief is perfectly fine for most users, however, should you wear glasses, you will most likely get a better view without black rings on the edges when using the 12x40 Stabiscope that has a full 17mm of eye relief.

About Fujinon Stabiscope Binoculars

Made in Japan, this very high high-quality Stabiscope series of image stabilization binoculars was first introduced to the market as far back as 1980. This is not to say that they are outdated as since then they have been continuously modernized and improved upon and are now widely considered to be amongst the finest gyro-stabilized binoculars currently available.
Containing two 40mm models, with a choice of either a 12x or very powerful 16x magnifications, the combination of this with high end optical components and a stabilized image makes them an ideal solution in a wide range of areas that includes many marines, security, military, search and rescue as well as general use applications, be that from land, the sea or the air.

Important Features

Unlike many of its competitors, the Gyro-stabilization technology on the Fujinon Stabiscope binoculars will still work with binocular pointing at extreme angles. This aspect along with the of vertical and horizontal stabilization means that they are able to provide you with a shake-free image even under extreme circumstances making them ideal for use on an unsteady platform like a boat on the high seas or even from an airplane or helicopter.
The rubber armored housing provides additional grip as well as protection, whilst the O-ring sealed ensure that these Stabiscope binoculars are 100% waterproof. These seals mean that they are also protected from small particles like dust from entering the system. The Stabiscope are also been filled with dry nitrogen gas that prevents the inner lens surfaces from fogging up.
In terms of powering the stabilizer, the Stabiscope presents you with a number of options in that you can use as four "AA" batteries, a single 2CR5 battery or with the addition of an additional adapter, can be connected to a DC power source.

Optical Properties

Fujinon has fully multi-coated the optics on their Stabiscope binoculars which implies that they have multiple layers of an antireflection material added to all the optical surfaces throughout the pathway. This treatment reduces the amount of light reflected away or in an undesired direction and thus makes a noticeable difference to both the quality and brightness of the image.
These Fujinon binoculars use the individual eyepiece focusing system. Whilst this requires a little more time to set-up the binocular to match your particular vision, once completed, no further focusing is required as everything from the minimum focusing distance right to infinity will remain and be in perfect focus.

Accessories

Fujinon supplies their Stabiscope series of binoculars with a military specification hard case including foam cutouts for the maximum level of protection during storage and transportation. You also get a carry strap and a woven hand strap with padding that is designed so that you can use the binocular with just your left or right hand in a similar way as you would a camcorder.
