Hawke Crossbow scopes description

Hawke Crossbow scopes are entirely designed for use on a crossbow. These rifle scopes come with fixed or variable magnifications, but all have a BDC (ballistic drop compensation) reticle inside, for easy aiming at different distances. The fixed power crossbow scope has a BDC matched reticle for a 315 feet per second ( 96 m/s )fast arrow, but the variable magnification crossbow scopes can be used with different arrow speeds of arrow weights.

This means, on the magnification ring there isn't written just the magnification setting, but also the arrow speed in FPS. So you simply adjust the ring on the speed your arrow is flying, and the reticle will be matched on different distances. This works, because the reticle is set in the second focal plane (reticle size doesn't change with magnification).

All crossbow scopes can be ordered with illumination, two models with 5 red and 5 green brightness settings, and one model with a ˝rheostat˝ stepless brightness setting (XB30 Pro 1-5x24). The fixed power scope XB 3x32 and the XBI 1.5-5x32 can also be ordered also without any illumination.

All crossbow scopes from Hawke have fully multi-coated lenses for a good image, better sharpness, and more light transmission. The turrets on all models are capped for protection against accidental movement, and the whole tube is made from one piece aluminum for a more reliable use. The tube diameter of these rifle scopes is 1 inch, or 30 mm on the newer model XB30 Pro 1-5x24.

These rifle scopes have fixed parallax at 50 yards (46 meters), are waterproof and shockproof, filled with nitrogen to prevent internal fogging at low temperatures, and the finish on these scopes is matte black for protection against scratches.

Hawke Crossbow scopes features

  • Reliable mechanics in one-piece housing (shockproof)
  • Waterproof and nitrogen purged for fog proof use at low temperatures
  • Second Focal Plane reticles (reticle size doesn't change with zoom)
  • Multi-coated lenses for image brightness and contrast
  • Fixed parallax (50 yards / 46 meters)
  • Fixed magnification ( XB 3x32 )
  • Variable magnification (XBI 1.5-5x32 and XB30 Pro 1-5x24)
  • Non-illuminated reticle ( XB 3x32 and XBI 1.5-5x32 )
  • Illuminated reticle ( 5 red and 5 green brightness levels or ˝rheostat˝ illumination on XB30 Pro 1-5x24)
  • 10 years warranty

General features of Crossbow Scope

These riflescopes are designed for crossbow use.

The crossbow scope is compact and light, with a 1-inch (25.4mm) tube and an objective lens diameter of 32–36 mm.

Magnification on Crossbow optics and scope

The magnification on Crossbow Scope is either

If it is variable, the maximum magnification usually does not surpass 8x.

Parallax and field of view on the Crossbow Scopes

The parallax on the crossbow scope is fixed, mostly at around 30 m of distance. The eye-relief is suited for crossbow use (around 70 mm). The Minimal Field of view on crossbow scope is around 8-10m/100m, and the maximal field of view is 28-32m/100m.

The reticle on the hunting crossbow scope

The reticle on the crossbow scope consists of dots or lines for the arrow drop (sometimes a combination of both is used).

It is important to know that an arrow is subjected to a huge drop compared to a bullet, even at close distances.

Most commonly, a great portion of the reticle on crossbow scopes is illuminated.

Mounting on a scope

When mounting optics on the crossbows, it is important to know that the mounting platform (Picatinny rail) is located above the flight groove of the crossbows.

A crossbow scope is attached to the rail with two Picatinny rings. Most crossbow users shoot with the help of scope as it significantly improves the accuracy.
