The History of Henry

Henry Repeating Arms, an American firearms company, was founded in 1996 by Louis & Anthony Imperato. The company's name pays tribute to Benjamin Tyler Henry, the inventor of the first repeating lever-action rifle. Their initial product was the Henry model H001, a lever-action rifle chambered for a .22 rimfire cartridge which set the tone for Henry's focus on lever-action rifles, a tradition they would continue to build upon.

Over the years, Henry expanded its portfolio, selling more than 1 million of the H001 models and introducing a variety of other firearms. This includes the renowned Henry Golden Boy, the Big Boy and Long Ranger series for hunting and defense, the US Survival AR-7, Mini Bolt, tribute and Boy Scout editions, single-shot rifles, and shotguns in various calibers, as well as the Side-Gate lever-action rifle.

Today, in 2023, Henry Repeating Arms employs over 600 people and manufactures more than 300,000 rifles per year. With factories located in Bayonne, New Jersey, and Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the company continues to focus primarily on producing lever-action rifles in both centerfire and rimfire cartridges along with many additional firearm options. Anthony Imperato serves as the CEO and Founder, guiding the company from its headquarters in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

Henry H014 Rifle Review

Henry H014 also known as Henry Long Ranger is a centerfire lever action rifle primarily designed for big game hunting. It has a lightweight receiver made from aerospace alloy. Instead of the tubular magazine, the bottom has a steel-bodied flush-fit detachable magazine with a steel floor plate and a blackened steel release button on the right side of the receiver. The H014 ejects cartridges from the side of the receiver, not the top. This design allows for optics to be mounted on the upper receiver using four drilled and tapped holes.

The Long Ranger maintains the typical lever action mechanism with an exposed hammer and forged steel lever, as well as the in-hammer sliding Transfer Bar Safety Mechanism. If the hammer is completely cocked and is unintentionally moved by something other than the trigger being pulled, the gun will not discharge. If the hammer is accidentally released before being fully cocked, the gun will also not fire.

The H014 models have a round sporter barrel that is held in place by an American Walnut stock. Some versions have iron sights preinstalled and others come without sights. The rifles are equipped with a rubber recoil pad at the end of the stock.

.308 Win.

Henry H014 receivers come with four holes for scope mounting purposes, two on the front and two on the rear mounting surface.

For one-piece mounts to fit on a rifle, mounting surfaces on these rifles must match in every dimension.

Rifles That Have Two-Piece Scope Mounts Interchangeable With Henry H014

To meet interchangeability conditions, two-piece mounts must match in all dimensions except the B distance. B distance can vary because two-piece mounts can be installed and adjusted closer or further apart.
