The History of Pietta

Giuseppe Pietta, who began learning the craft of gun-making at a young age, established Pietta in 1963, with its headquarters located in Gussago, Italy.

Collaborating with another factory, Giuseppe started manufacturing gun parts from a room in his home. The demand for Pietta's products quickly grew, leading to the production of their first shotgun, a 12-gauge over-and-under model, in 1966. The company’s reputation as a manufacturer of replica vintage arms grew, and they received recognition for their re-creation of the iconic Colt Single-Action Army revolver in 2002.

Pietta expanded their offer to include historically accurate American firearms, such as replicas of Colt's 1851 Navy black-powder revolver and other vintage models like the Remington and the LeMat. They also introduced the Chronos Rifle, a gas-operated rifle with short-stroke action, and a line of semi-automatic shotguns at the SHOT show.

As of 2023, their firearms are available in Europe as well as in the United States through their own importing and distribution center, as well as established importers.

Pietta Chronos Rifle Review

The Pietta Chronos, also known as the Pietta Kronos, is a semi-automatic rifle created by F.LLI. Pietta. Its mechanics and physical shape are similar to the Browning BAR. The rifle operates using a short-stroke gas piston and a heavy link below the barrel, connected to the bolt carrier with two bars.

The rotating bolt head locks into the steel barrel extension, which allows for the receiver to be made from lighter materials. The rifle comes in two calibers: .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. A key difference from the BAR is that the gas system on the Chronos can't be adjusted by the user.

Chronos rifles come with three-dot fiber optic sights and quick detachable sling swivels. A recoil pad made from micro gel foam is also included. A push-button safety system is located on the side of the trigger guard.

The detachable magazine is made from high-quality polymer and can hold four cartridges. There is a release lever for the magazine located in front of the trigger guard. Additionally, an optional nine-round magazine is available. The rifle comes supplied with two extra plastic stock shims that can be used to adjust the height of the comb. Moreover, most models have the option to have a cheekpad adjusted for height. The top of the aluminum alloy receiver is drilled and tapped, allowing for scope mounts.

The rifle can be chambered for the following calibers:

.308 Win.
.30-06 Spr.

Pietta Chronos receivers come with four holes for mounting purposes, two on the front and two on the rear mounting surface.

For one-piece mounts to fit on a rifle, mounting surfaces on these rifles must match in every dimension.

Rifles That Have Two-Piece Scope Mounts Interchangeable With Pietta Chronos

To meet interchangeability conditions, two-piece mounts must match in all dimensions except the B distance. B distance can vary because two-piece mounts can be installed and adjusted closer or further apart.
