The History of Henry

Henry Repeating Arms, an American firearms company, was founded in 1996 by Louis & Anthony Imperato. The company's name pays tribute to Benjamin Tyler Henry, the inventor of the first repeating lever-action rifle. Their initial product was the Henry model H001, a lever-action rifle chambered for a .22 rimfire cartridge which set the tone for Henry's focus on lever-action rifles, a tradition they would continue to build upon.

Over the years, Henry expanded its portfolio, selling more than 1 million of the H001 models and introducing a variety of other firearms. This includes the renowned Henry Golden Boy, the Big Boy and Long Ranger series for hunting and defense, the US Survival AR-7, Mini Bolt, tribute and Boy Scout editions, single-shot rifles, and shotguns in various calibers, as well as the Side-Gate lever-action rifle.

Today, in 2023, Henry Repeating Arms employs over 600 people and manufactures more than 300,000 rifles per year. With factories located in Bayonne, New Jersey, and Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the company continues to focus primarily on producing lever-action rifles in both centerfire and rimfire cartridges along with many additional firearm options. Anthony Imperato serves as the CEO and Founder, guiding the company from its headquarters in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

Henry H006 Rifle Review

Among other lever action rifles presented by Henry throughout the years, the company also introduced the Big Boy models, marked under denominations H006 and H012. The main structural components of the rifles are the same with some minor differences in details such as the action material, stock material and buttplate. Henry Big Boy H006 can be chambered for .375 Mag., .38 Spl., .327 Fed. Mag., .32 H&R Mag., .41 Rem. Mag., .44 Mag. and .45 Colt calibers.

The H006 comes with a 508 mm (20-inch) octagon blued steel barrel and an action made of polished and hardened brass. Unlike many other lever-action rifles, the H006 ejects cartridges from the side of the receiver, not the top which allows for optics to be mounted on the upper receiver using three holes. Additionally, the rifle comes equipped with a rear semi-buckhorn sight adjustable for elevation and windage, and a brass bead front sight.

A Transfer Bar Safety Mechanism is a patented feature of the H006. The gun won't fire if the hammer is fully cocked and is unintentionally moved by something other than pulling the trigger. The weapon will also not discharge if the hammer is unintentionally released before it is fully cocked. Instead of the side port for loading the tubular magazine, the H006 comes with a removable brass feed tube which contains both the spring and cartridge follower and can hold up to 10 rounds. Instead of a rubber recoil pad, the stock on the H006 models has a polished brass plate positioned at the end.
