Schultz & Larsen 65 DL

The History of Schultz & Larsen

Schultz & Larsen is a Danish company that was founded in the mid-20th century by two brothers, Viggo and Børge Schultz, and their friend, Jørgen Larsen. The company began as a small workshop producing hunting rifles and quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality firearms. In the 1950s, Schultz & Larsen began to expand its product line to include target rifles and other competitive shooting firearms.

Throughout the following decades, Schultz & Larsen continued to innovate and improve its products, and by the 1970s, the company had become one of the leading manufacturers of competitive shooting rifles in Europe. The company's rifles were used by many Olympic and international-level shooters and several world records have been set with rifles from Schultz & Larsen.

In recent years, Schultz & Larsen has shifted its focus towards producing high-end hunting rifles, while still maintaining its reputation for quality and precision. The company continues to operate in Denmark, where all of its rifles are still handmade by skilled craftsmen.

Schultz & Larsen 65 DL Rifle Review

The Schultz & Larsen 65 DL is a bolt-action rifle from the 1960s that features a bolt with a two-locking-lugs system. The two lugs provide a secure lockup at the rear of the bolt, ensuring accuracy and reliability when firing. The action of the 65 DL is smooth and easy to operate, allowing for quick and efficient follow-up shots. There are three pre-tapped holes in the front and two in the rear of the receiver prepared for the installment of scope mounts

The receiver is made of high-quality steel, providing a solid and durable foundation for the rifle. The rifle also has a large mounting surface that allows for the easy installation of scopes or other accessories. The trigger of the 65 DL is adjustable and the pull weight can be set to 900-1350 g (2-3 lbs), which makes it easy for the shooter to pull it and fire accurately. The rifle also has a detachable magazine that holds 5 rounds of ammunition. The stock of the rifle is made of high-grade wood, providing a comfortable and elegant look. The safety of the rifle is located on the rear of the bolt and can be easily engaged or disengaged with the thumb. The cocking mechanism is also located on the rear of the bolt.

The barrel length of the Schultz & Larsen 65 DL is approximately 610 mm (24 inches) and the overall length is approximately 1067 mm (42 inches). This makes it a versatile rifle that can be used for both hunting and target shooting. The combination of its smooth action, high-quality components, and elegant design make the Schultz & Larsen 65 DL a sought-after rifle among firearms enthusiasts. The production stopped in 1966 when it was replaced by Schultz & Larsen 68 DL.
