Savage Model 112 (LA/round-back)

Disclaimer: This page is dedicated to the Savage Model 112 with the long-action and a round-back receiver (LA/Round-Back).

_________________________________

Savage Model 112 is basically just a variant of the Savage Model 110 with a few extra features.

This is due to Savage’s decision in the late 1970s or early 1980s when they decided to introduce a numbering system to easily differentiate between the several variants of their now-famous Savage Model 110. Numbers 111, 112, 114, and 116 were gradually launched, and each of them signified a certain feature of the base model. For instance, Savage Model 110 with an American walnut stock suddenly became Savage Model 114; the Model 110 with a stainless-steel barrel became Model 116, and so on, but they were still essentially just Model 110 variants.

Generally speaking, Scope Mounts for Long-Action Savage Model 110 will also fit on the long-action Savage Model 112, but you need to pay attention to the shape of the receiver. Your variant of 110 can have a flat mounting surface at the back of the receiver or a rounded one. Scope mounts for flat-back receivers will not fit on rounded receivers and vice versa.

You can read more about The Difference Between Flat-Back and Round-Back Savage Model 110, but to put it simply: if your variant of Savage Model 110 was made before 2003, it has a flat-back receiver. If it was manufactured after 2003, it has a round-back receiver.

If you wish to learn more about the rifle, read our guide for Scope Mounts for Savage Model 110 (LA/Round-Back) where we wrote extensively about the model.

Best Scope Mounts for Savage Model 112 (LA/Round-Back)

There is another thing we need to mention before you buy a scope mount for your Savage Model 112.

Up to recently, every Savage Model 110, regardless of the variant, was tapped for #6-48 screws. However, some of the newer variants have the receiver drilled and tapped for larger diameter #8-40 screws.

This is something to keep in mind only if you have a Model 110 variant that was made after 2020, in which case we kindly ask you to choose the correct SCREW SIZE before ordering a scope mount. You will find the drop-down menu on the right side of the product’s image, above the price.

Picatinny Rails for Savage Model 112 (LA/Round-Back)

By far the easiest way to avoid any troubles with the diameter of the screws on the long-action round-back Savage Model 112 is to make use of the EGW Picatinny Rail. Since September 2021, EGW is drilling these rails to accommodate both the #8-40 and #6-48 screws. The head diameter on the #6-48 screws provided with this mount is larger than on EGW’s normal #6-48 screws, which is a rather simple yet very effective solution to the problem.

The buyers get both types of screws included when they purchase the mount.

Fixed Scope Mounts for Savage Model 112 (LA/Round-Back)

If you are looking for a quality fixed scope mount for your round-back Savage Model 112 (LA), then look no further than this 30 mm DNZ Game Reaper. It is made of aluminum and comes with a 10-year warranty.

Please choose the correct screw size before ordering the mount.

Detachable Repeatable Scope Mounts for Savage Model 112 (LA/Round-Back)

Henneberger one-piece scope mount earned our top recommendation for a detachable repeatable scope mount for a long-action round-back Savage Model 112. It is manufactured in Germany, is made of aluminum, and has a 30-year warranty attached to it.

It will, however, need to be coupled with a Picatinny rail. We recommend the EGW Picatinny Rail.

The 30mm tube on these devices is used as a means of mounting when attaching them to a firearm. Typically, the mounting area is divided by the turret section, just like in conventional riflescopes.
