The History of Borden Accuracy

Borden Accuracy was established by Jim Borden, who initially began as a silhouette and benchrest competitor in the mid-1970s, while also maintaining a role as an engineer for a Fortune 500 company. His interest in firearms expanded into the creation of his rifles, which then grew into a business of producing custom firearms for others in the early 1980s. Following his retirement from his previous engineering career in December 1994, Borden fully transitioned into the custom gun-building field.

Borden's dedication and skill have led to significant recognition. He set ten world records in the field, won 11 National Championships, and earned the Gold Precision Rifleman Award from the International Benchrest Shooters. In addition, he was an active participant in the leadership of the International Benchrest Shooters, serving multiple terms on the Executive Board.

Today, Borden Accuracy is a family-run operation. They operate primarily in the manufacturing of precision actions of the highest quality with the extremely low tolerances using CNC machinery. Their operational facilities are in the Springville, USA and are distributed across two buildings, comprising more than 6000 square feet dedicated to manufacturing and showroom areas. For practical rifle accuracy assessment, a 100-yard range with two covered solid concrete benches is maintained within the company premises. In addition to the high-precision actions, Borden Accuracy also includes custom rifle production in their operations. The product range consists of different categories – from hunting rifles, F-class rifles, and BR rifles to tube gun rifles. Each type allows for extensive modifications, enabling users to adjust specific elements according to the user’s preferences.

The brand is recognized for its extreme accuracy and reliability in both hunting and competitive fields. Their collective efforts have resulted in the manufacture of actions and the assembly of rifles that have won over 100 World Records and National Championships.

Borden Accuracy Alpine Rifle Review

The Borden Alpine is a name reserved for custom bolt-action rifles characterized by short-style (SA) actions with titanium body that are manufactured by Borden Accuracy. The action measures 200 mm in length and has a diameter of 353 mm. The model is available in weights of 540 g, 740 g, or 850 g.

It operates with a push-feed action style and is available either as a single shot or in various magazine styles - from .223 Remington-style mags to Wyatt Length magazines. The Alpine model is designed for both left-handed and right-handed use.

Regarding safety mechanisms, the Alpine model employs a two-position safety lever located on the upper right side of the receiver. On the same side, the bolt release lever is positioned. The bolt features two opposing locking lugs at the front end, providing secure lock-up with the action's housing.

The receiver of the rifle contains four holes: two at the front and two at the back. These are designed for mounting accessories. The specifications of the Alpine model can vary due to its customizability, which allows for adjustments in components such as magazine style, weight, and action design.

Borden Accuracy Alpine Calibers

Since the rifle is highly customizable, the caliber choice is left to the user. No concrete list of available calibers is provided, however, the manufacturer states that the Alpine can accommodate a wide variety of SA cartridges. Some of the popular choices include .308 Win., 5.45x39, .260 Rem. and .223 Rem. but the list can be expanded according to the personal preferences of the user.

The receivers of Borden Accuracy Alpine come with drilled and tapped holes for scope mounting purposes. There are two holes at the front and two at the rear end of the receiver.
