About Sightron’s Simplicity

Sightron is one of the leading companies in the industry. Having spent nearly three decades in the business, the company has become a synonym for dependable optical products and is particularly popular among sport shooters. What separates Sightron from the competition is their incredible vision. Unlike many optical giants whose marketing budget puts their development resources to shame, this Japanese company knows what truly matters. Sure, you’ll find more additions and modern design tricks elsewhere but when it comes to bare essentials like image clarity, color contrast, and overall optical performance, Sightron leaves everyone behind. The company’s business model puts emphasis on continuous research and technological advancement, leaving no room empty for frills and fanfares. Sightron lets their products speak for themselves.

About the SIII Series

Many outdoor enthusiasts agree that when it comes to high-quality optics paired with reasonable pricing, the Sightron SIII series is the clear winner in this price class.  Customers can have their pick from a huge variety of riflescope models that sell for around 800 to 1800 euros.

These SIII SS LR series riflescopes were made for long range shooting. CNC-machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and given a smooth black matte finish, all Sightron SIII riflescopes are built around a one-piece 30-millimeter tube for maximum ruggedness.

The Japanese brand has developed the ExacTrack Precision Windage and Elevation™ system that ensures total repeatability with accurate P.O.I., no matter if your SIII riflescope is set at or off zero.

Looking at the optical properties, we can see that Sightron used ED glass. This lens material is known for super low dispersion and reduces chromatic aberration to a minimum. Not only that, ED glass produces incredibly bright images in sharp detail.

The external lens surfaces of these riflescopes are then reinforced with multiple coatings. Sightron’s Zact-7 Revcoat™ varnish makes the precision-ground glass of the objective and eyepiece lens super light-permeable. With 91% light transmission rate, these scopes won’t let you down in a low-light environment.

The last major series change happened in 2019 when Sightron updated 13 models in the SIII series. The newest models now come with zero-stop tactical turrets and highly visible white markings.

All Sightron SIII riflescope models are produced in Japan and come with a lifetime warranty.

About the SIII Target 10-50x60 LR Model

Sightron is the top producer of long-range scopes for all types of precision competitions and the SIII10-50x60 Target model is a welcome addition to their already impressive repertoire.

With a 5x zoom factor, this prone and benchrest shooting scope is also suitable for F-Class rifle competitions.

This is a classic target scope. The shooter can pick from 5 different fine-hair reticle designs in the 2. focal plane that will cover as little of the target as possible. These options are Mil-Dot, Target Dot, Fine Crosshair, Narrow Duplex, and Wide Duplex. The model with the ultra-thin Fine Crosshair reticle design is especially popular.

Sightron is known for using ED glass with excellent lens clarity, showing impeccable images in sharp detail.

The CCW windage and elevation adjustment turrets are designed as typical target knobs - tall, ⅛ MOA, resettable to zero and protected with rugged aluminum caps. There is a turn indicator under each turret and super visible white markings only add to the no-nonsense practicality of this scope.

Both multi-turn turrets have 80 MOA adjustment range with 10 MOA per a single turn. The ⅛ MOA adjustment per click (roughly 3.5 millimeters per 100 meters) is the optimal configuration for precision target shooters who need finely adjustable turrets. The clicks are crisp and audible, ensuring you’ll be able to keep your eyes on the prize at all times.

Note that since this specific model was engineered before 2019, it does not feature zero-stop and locking functions.

The parallax setting of the 10-50x60 scope differs from the rest of the series. While all other models have the parallax adjustable only from 36.5m (40 yards) onwards, this target optic allows for adjustments from 11.88 meters to infinity.

The side focus system of the parallax turret is finely-adjustable with no numerical marks. In truth, these often needlessly confuse the users so Sightron made sure to make parallax corrections as simplistic but fast and instinctive as possible. The eyes are the test.

As far as physical properties are concerned, Sightron keeps it simple. The scope features a 30mm tube that will give you a variety of options when choosing the right mounting solution for your needs.

The one-piece main tube is CNC-machined from aircraft-grade aluminum. The housing sports a black matte finish and like all Sightron models made after 2018, it has standard white marks.

The scope is Nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging of the lens and keeps the scope impervious to water damage.

The scope comes with removable eyepiece and lens flip-up covers that are made from a mix of plastic and rubber. A suitable hex key is included with the packaging.
