Hensoldt rifle scopes description

Hensoldt, a military version of Zeiss, is a world known manufacturer of high quality equipment and sensors for the european Law enforcement and military. So are their rifle scopes one of the best curently produced on the world. Hensoldt has a small selection, but all of them are designed for profesional use for snipers that have to engage targets from short, medium to long range, and their lives depends on their equipment.

All rifle scopes from Hensoldt are made made from aircraft grade aluminum for extra strenght and reliability, and like Zeiss, Hensoldt also uses SCHOTT HT high transmission glass and FL - flouride glass, also made from SCHOTT for maximal light transmission and best posible contrast and resolution. All lenses are fully multi coated to improve all this properties.

Because Hensoldt's market is specificaly Europe, all rifle scopes are designed in metric units, like the reticles and the clicks, that are in MIL's. Also the parallax turrets have marks for different distances, that are nice and evenly arranged. All Hensoldt rifle scopes are totaly waterproof, shockproof for even the strongest magnum calibers like the .50 BMG, and are nitrogen purged for a fogproof use at low temperatures.

The smalest models, 3-12x56, and the 4-16x56 can be ordered with the reticle set in the first focal plane (reticle size changes with magnification) or in the second focal plane (reticle size doesn't change with magnification), where the bigger models, 6-24x56 and 6-24x72 can only be ordered with the reticle in the second focal plane.

All models have identical exposed tactical turrets for quick elevation or windage adjustment, but only the 4-16x56 model has self locking turrets for preventing accidental turrent movement. All models have a parallax adjustment ring, big objective lens for superb light transmission and a rheostat illumination turret that has unlimited revolutions, although the full brightness setting is achieved with cca 270 degree turn.

The flagship model, Hensoldt 3.5-26x56 is a class of it's own. With such a big magnification range packed in only 37 cm long housing this is a remarkable piece of optics. Also the elevation range is incredible, with 40 MIL of adjustment this rifle scope can be used on extreme ranges. The turrets are exposed tactical that are double turn, with 18 MIL adjustment per turn, and for use in different climatic environments, the turrets go 5 clicks under the zero. So total adjustment range of this rifle scope is 36.5 MIL or 3.65 meters on 100 meters. This rifle scope features reticle illumination with a big CR 123A battery, and Hensoldt claims that this is because the illumination has to work in any environment and at any temperature. It features also a auto-off function when the rifle scope isn't in use for 3 hours, or if it's given to a non-shooting position. The reticle is set in the first focal plane (reticle size changes with magnification) for easy hold overs and measurements of the distance. The main tube has a diameter of 36 mm, and many mounting solutions are available. Thanks to the very short design, this rifle scopes are perfect to use with night vision or thermal clip-on systems, or other forvard attachments.
