Docter sight mounting standard

The Docter/Noblex sight mounting standard, often referred to simply as the Docter sight mounting standard, is the most popular mounting surface in the open reflex red dot sight category. All other mounting standards on open reflex red dot sights are based on it. As the name suggests, Docter was the first to use this mounting standard. Many refer to it as Docter/Noblex mounting standard since Noblex bought Docter in 2017.

It consists of four sockets, one in each corner. The pins on the adapter that fit into these sockets act as recoil stoppers. There are two screw holes between the rear and the middle section of the mounting surface for mounting purposes. Once the sight is paired with an adapter, the screws are put into place from above, through the housing of the red dot sight.

Red dot sights that feature the Docter/Noblex mounting standard can be used on handguns and rifles. Many optic-ready pistols are designed to be used in combination with a red dot sight that has the Docter/Noblex mounting standard. Some pistol and adapter manufacturers list Vortex Viper, Vortex Venom, or Burris Fastfire 3 as an example of a dot that features this mounting standard.

There are some modifications of the Docter/Noblex mounting standard on the market, Meopta Meosight III mounting standard being the most popular. Meosight III has sockets in the same place, while the screw holes are placed closer to the rear two sockets than on red dot sights that feature the Docter/Noblex mounting standard. Some adapters are designed to fit both mounting standards.

Most Docter sight mounts are made from aluminium. They are produced by EAW, Recknagel, Rusan, Henneberger, INNOmount, Contessa, Toni System, Noblex, and many others.
