The scope is on the heavy side but it is built like a tank

This review is for the K-dot 2 reticle 1-6x24 model: the scope is on the heavy side but it is built like a tank. The magnification ring has the right amount of tension, not too loose or tight. The glass is excellent with almost no edge distortion and only a very slight fish-eye effect on the outer edge of the sight picture, far less than that of something like a Vortex razor. If there was a negative for this model it would only be that the dot while bright, is not as bright as a red dot in direct sunlight.

Very good but not perfect

Any review of a product is going to be a subjective view according to the reviewers needs and preferences and from my personal perspective I am going to tell you the the things I like about this scope and the things I would change. My first impressions were of a strong well made scope with very good optics. It does have some slight distortion at the edges of the field of view at lower powers but it is minimal and would never effect fast target acquisition or distract your aim. The scope has no tunnel effect and gives a bright sharp image. It’s lenses are very good but not in the excellent Swarovski, S&B or Zeiss victory class but you wouldn’t tell unless you compared them side by side and you would never need better for any practical application. This is a heavy scope. Not for my application on a big game rifle that could have used a few more ounces anyway but if excess weight is important to you this scope may be a bit overweight. It is also bulky with a very fat eyepiece and power ring. The turret caps likewise are huge. The effect is not elegant but rather like an Eastern European tractor that might impress you with bulk and sturdiness. All this bulk in the eyepiece could be a hinderance when attempting to mount the scope low on a rifle with a 90 degree bolt lift. My rifle is a Sako 85 with a low bolt lift and I get away with extra low Sako mounts and manage a good cheek weld. The eye relief is good and eye position is non critical. I chose a second focal plane scope with a German type No.4 reticle. The reticle and illumination is where I definitely would make a change. I bought this scope on order and had never seen the reticle but assumed it would be like all the other European scopes with No.4 Reticles I had used in the past. This scopes No.4 reticle is not what I’m used to. The heavy side and bottom bars do not protrude far into the field of view and so offer little in the way of bringing the eye into the aiming point in poor light or during fast action situations. Yes this is an illuminated scope but the illuminations are quite low and only effective in low light situations. The centre cross hairs are very fine and at the lower powers they are just not prominent enough in a hunting scope. On higher magnification with carefully aimed shots they are quite O.K. My fear is when hunting during the day and game breaks from heavy cover the cross hairs will be too fine and the illumination not bright enough to be of any use. If you choose a first focal plane model or a second focal plane with a different reticle this scope might be a great choice for you. For the money it appears to be a very well made and certainly solid enough for a lot of hard use.

Optika6 binoculars are not made in the Czech Republic. Most of the components come from Asia and the binoculars are only assembled in the Czech Republic.

Strelni daljnogledi Optika6 niso izdelani na Češkem. Glavnina sestavnih delov prihaja iz Azije, na Češkem pa daljnoglede zgolj sestavijo.
