Day-time usable illumination

VIDEO

Daytime illumination of reticle serves a different purpose than twilight illumination, and in such rifle scopes, high intensity levels are a necessity. The illumination of the reticle is meant for rapid target acquisition, since a bright red dot is the best possible aiming point. Shooters’ eyes are instinctively drawn to a bright red dot in the center of the field of view. Such strong illumination is feasible only in rifle scopes with magnification lower than 1.5x or ideally 1.0x. Such wide-angle rifle scopes with a real 1.0x magnification and daytime bright illumination of the reticle can even be used with both eyes open, similar to reflex/red dot sights.

Rifle scopes with daytime illumination are the best choice for IPSC, CQB, tactical shooting and driven hunting in bright daylight.

Stalking is a special way of hunting where a hunter has to come close to the animals without being seen or heard. This involves many skills and using the proper equipment plays a role. Hunting in high mountains in most cases also includes stalking as the main part of the hunt. Due to physical challenges associated with stalking, all equipment has to be light and small.

Riflescopes for stalking share the following characteristics:

  • Small size and mass
  • Objective lens diameter from 32 to 44 mm
  • Capped turrets
  • 1 inch or 30 mm tube or rail mounting
  • Minimal magnification ranging from 1.5x to 4x
  • Maximal magnification ranging from 6x to 12x
  • Parallax fixed at 100m
