Pentax company was founded in 1919 by Kumao Kajiwara. With headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, the initially produced spectacle lenses and camera/cine lenses. During WWII the company was fulfilling obligations by producing military optical devices and after the war resumed their initial work with manufacturing binoculars and camera lenses. In 1950s they produced the first camera for photography that has a single-lens reflex and since then remained one of the leading manufacturers of still cameras, binoculars and other optical instruments.
