Athlon Ares BTR GEN 2 HD 2.5-15x50 FFP Product description

  • 29 MIL of elevation range makes this riflescope a great choice for long range shooting.
  • Durable, sturdy one-piece 6061 T6 Aluminium housing grants protection from even the strongest recoil.
  • A Precise Zero Stop System allows you to dial the elevation turret back to a sharp and precise stop, right at your zero mark.
  • Thanks to the innovative XPL coating used, you will have no problems with dirt and oil accumulating on the external parts of the lenses. It also protects against minor scratches.

Introduction

Athlon draws inspiration for the naming of their riflescopes from Greek mythology. They have many riflescopes in their offer, and each series encompasses riflescopes from a specific price class. In the Neos series, Athlon’s entry-level riflescopes are positioned, while the Cronus series comprises their top of the line riflescopes.

Some of Athlon riflescopes carry the ‘BTR’ mark. BTR stands for Bright Tactical Reticle, which basically means that the riflescope features an illuminated tactical reticle.

About the series (Ares BTR)

Athlon Ares BTR riflescopes are similarly designed as Midas BTR riflescopes but feature an FFP-configuration instead of an SFP one – the reticle size changes with magnification. The riflescopes in this series feature a 6x zoom factor and HD glass. The lenses are fully multicoated.

All the models carry a ‘BTR’ mark, meaning that they feature an illuminated tactical reticle. The turrets are of the exposed type. The elevation turret is equipped with a True Zero Stop system. The diameter of the tube is 30 mm.

The housing is made of one-piece 6061 T6 aluminium and ruggedly designed. Ares BTR riflescopes withstand the recoil of even the most powerful calibers out there. The interior is purged with argon to prevent internal fogging at low temperatures.

The XPL coating applied to the external parts of the lenses repels dirt, oil and protects the surface from minor scratches.

These riflescopes are made in China and carry a price tag of around 1000 €.

About the model (Ares BTR GEN 2 HD 2.5-15x50)

Even though this model doesn’t boast a magnification as high as the 4.5–27 model, it can still be effectively used for long range shooting. It has 29 MIL of elevation range, a parallax adjustment with a side focus (10 yards to infinity), and multi-turn tactical turrets. The elevation turret has 1cm/100 m clicks and a zero stop, but no locking function. It has a 30mm tube for mounting purposes.

There are two reticles to choose from: APLR3 IR MIL, and APLR3 IR MOA. If you choose the MIL reticle, the reticle subtensions of the reticle will match the clicks of the turrets at all magnifications (MIL/MIL). If you choose the MOA reticle, the same applies (MOA/MOA).

The reticle is illuminated, and the illumination can be set to 6 intensity levels. There is an off switch between each intensity setting. The system is powered by a CR2032 battery.
