Hello Optics-Trade! I own a pair of Minox HG 8x43 binoculars that I purchased at least 10 years ago. I have been happy with them. I am currently seeking a new pair that would perform better at twilight (dawn/dusk). I am interested in 8x56 with Abbe-Koenig prisms, made in USA, EU, or Japan. I see that Minox offers an X-HD model in this configuration. Should I be considering offers from different manufacturers? Many thanks! Paolo (Oh, and I am in Canada if that makes a difference).

by Paolo

Dear Paolo,

thank you for contacting us.

Minox X-HD 8x56 is easily one of the best low-light binoculars on the market at approximately 1000€, due to very good optical quality and Roof-Abbe/Koenig prisms that perform flawlessly at dusk.

If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at info@optics-trade.eu

Which better in low light this or ddoptics pirschler?

by Mazen

Dear Sir,

thank you for contacting us.

In terms of low light performance, we would suggest Minox X-HD over the DD Optics Pirschler model. For more specific information please contact us directly at info@optics-trade.eu

Are these Minox binocular optics made in Japan? Will it be possible to use x2 magnifier eyepiece extensions made by Maven with this Minox X-HD 8x56 model without introducing chromatic aberation (Chinese optics have different refractive index/chemical composition from Japanese optics)?

by Alan

Dear Alan,

Thank you for your inquiry. We sincerely apologize for the delayed reply, which is a result of the increased demand for our services.

We have Minox X-HD 8x56 in our stock and we were able to check them out for you. They were made in Germany and the quality of this product is very high. We tested the binoculars and there was only a minimal amount of chromatic aberation visible at times, but for the vast majority, the binoculars are excellent.

Unfortunately, however, we weren't able to confirm if you would be able to use the Maven x2 magnifier eyepiece extension with them. We kindly advise you to contact the manufacturer regarding this issue.

Should you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind regards
