Vortex Viper HS (Hunting-Shooting-Long-Range) are variable magnification rifle scopes designed for long-range hunting. These rifle scopes feature 4 times zoom range and come in 2 magnification ranges, both for long-range shooting.

In the smaller model, the Vortex Viper HS LR 4-16x50 LR is the reticle set in the second focal plane, so it has the same dimensions on all magnifications. This means the reticle is completely the same on the smallest and also on the biggest magnification, so it doesn't cover a lot of the target at 16x magnification.

In the bigger model, the Vortex Viper HS LR 6-24x50 FFP is the reticle set in the first focal plane, so it changes simultaneously when changing the magnification. The main benefit is that the user can calculate the distance to the target, and use the lines in the reticle for bullet drop compensation on all magnifications.

The reticle on both rifle scopes in non-illuminated and both rifle scopes feature a side parallax adjustment turret to focus on targets at different distances. The parallax is adjustable from 50 yards to infinity. The windage turret is capped for protection against accidental movement, but the elevation turrets is exposed tactical for quick and easy elevation adjustments. The turrets click in ¼ MOA, what is common in the most non-European hunting rifle scopes.

The lenses used are XD™ (Extra-low Dispersion), which increases the resolution and color fidelity of the image. All those lenses are also XR™ fully multi-coated to increase the light transmission and contrast. The outer lens have also an additional coating named ArmorTek, which makes the surface harder for more scratch-resistance and protection against oil and dirt.

The housing of the Vortex Viper HS LR rifle scopes is made from a single piece aluminum, so these rifle scopes can withstand a lot of recoil and hunting adventures. The finish is hard-anodized and has a nice matte black color. It is also argon gas filled, so the lenses will not fog internally in cold weather. The main tube diameter where the mount clamps on is 30 millimeters thick, so many mounting solutions are available.
