I've got a Sako M-995 in .338 Lapua Magnum. I have a set of Sako High Rise bases & 30 mm rings. Unfortunately the bases are too short to get proper eye relief. As I see it there are 3 options, 1) Buy a scope with a longer eye relief. 2) But a Picatinny style extended rail and replace the Sako bases with the rail, but I'd have to have the rifle drilled and tapped and I really don't want to do that, plus it would make the finish. 3) Buy a set of Sako Style high rise extended bases and 30 mm rings so I could move the scope far enough to the rear to get proper eye relief, and high enough that a scope with a 50-54 mm objective will fit without touching the barrel. What would you recommend?

Since both bases on these mounts are extended you would get a proportion of additional KR extension with your scope, which is by far the cheapest option amongst the three but also very effective from our standpoint.
